    Just started watching your channel, and think you are approaching as well as accomplishing each task on your journey to realize your visions. Great content, but one question, wouldn't it have been more efficient for rate of thermal migration from dirt to air duct, to cool or heat air by using aluminum or some other metal, concrete, or maybe terracotta. Personally the pvc piping, would've broke my bank, and my preferences would have been even further out of reach. But keep making progress, great programming.

    Mr. Wet blanket here again. Those cooling tubes must be 8-10 feet deep and at 8-10inch diameter....with some low volume fans drawing the cooler temps into your home. IMHO. Don't hate me, but wait and see.

      Citrus in Nebraska guy recommends I think four 4" septic tubes vs the 8" he did in his original build. He said on one of his videos that four of the 4-in should move about the same air as the 8-in but for whatever reason is much cheaper. I don't know how they expect to get the same sort of air exchanged with the minimal holes drilled in the PVC vs the commonly used corrugated septics drain pipes.

    Also for future reference, for that non pressure pipe in a non pressure application, there is a glue called “fusion”. It’s sold at home improvement stores and it’s a single stage cement. No primer needed. Saves you a little bit of money over a bunch of pipe.

    Jim, let me know how the tubes work, I put 200 ft of 6" tubes down 10 ft and I do get cool art, not sure if yours are deep enough, but I sure hope so.

    @ 10:35 who told you holes in the pipes / why not just a closed system so ABSOLUELY no dirt or water infiltration in the system ? and sans the gravel as the most soil contact to the pipe the most thermal transfer ! any water or dirt in the system my cause mold !

    Hey guys, looking good. I like that you are using the natural way to do everything around your property. Any time you can make your life better by using a natural way of doing it is better than having a big machine sucking your energy from your solar system. I will be watching this because I will probably do something like this when I build my home in Thailand. ❤

  • @wntu4
    @wntu4 День тому

    I don't understand all the holes, even if you rotated the pipe and point them down. If you were concerned about water getting in from the intake a small sump and drain hole fills the bill. Now all I see is dozens of places creepy crawlies can infiltrate your system.

  • @eddieandjulieklysz458

    In Australia out in the desert we had a driller a hole 3 feet round and 20 feet deep with 2 pipes one taking the hot air down and the other pipe to bring cool air up into the house. Yes the cost but when you have it done it is all free air cooling . As we are off grid. I have not seen what you guys are doing good for you to try something new.

    Geothermal, underground cooling is somthing that is so misunderstood. Hope your efforts are a sucess. Pioneers deserve the best outcome here. Sugesstions, of mine would be to drain;[all pvc lines into a sump pump area, maybe add aluminum cans in pipe; (too encrease transfer rate); lower pipe level), add more pipes, & empty outlet into greenhouse;dehumidifing area, or root cellar first to controll humidity level first, before cooling house. Good luck, set the bar high!😊

    I noticed that you used a 'wood' bit for drilling your PVC pipe. I might have wanted to use a 'metal' bit for drilling. Would that have been less prone to cracking? I do not know.

    these systems are useful, if you can chlorinate them for legionaires disease, and also the pipe will be schedule 40 able to withstand the weight of the backfill...this earth cooled air needs to have a fan and timer and must run on a timer for even heat exchange with the soils and the pipe must be at least 1/3 the cubic feet of air in the dwelling! the warm air will be naturally cooled by the subsurface temps and naturally condensate forms and will accumulate which is the reason for the chlorination to prevent the deadly bacteria from forming in the moist environment

    • @farmerjhemp
      @farmerjhemp День тому

      They won't have to worry about condensation because of the dry climate it's not likely that it would ever reach the dew point in the tube. I'm not sure why they opted for PVC versus septic drain tubing would have much better air exchange.

  • @philipvecchio3292
    @philipvecchio3292 День тому

    I'm kind of curious if you considered using this as part of an atmospheric water collection unit. By dropping the temperature, you get closer to the dew point. It means a dehumidifier has a much easier job of turning that humidity into usable water. You might not need it, or it might be too expensive. But it seems like it should be pretty straightforward.

  • @KarasCyborg

    Maybe as a backup plan you could put a pex slinky in there running some window washer fluid through a pump-radiator and a fan blowing across it. This is if the air coming from that 4" tube plenium gets musty /moldy with some ancient spores or something. At least you can have a closed loop system that will cool the house for only a few hundred dollars more. ua-cam.com/video/nV7XJXETr0Q/v-deo.html
